British Rose Veal is only sourced from Red Tractor Farms with dairy herds in the U.K., and is a very ethical and sustainable method of farming. When a cow is put in calf in order to produce milk, there is a 50/50 chance of her giving birth to a bull calf instead of a heifer, (little girl), and sadly, many of them were being shot at birth because there was no purpose to rearing them on. The rise in popularity of British Rose Veal has led to many positive changes in the dairy industry and we are very happy to continue supporting the British Farmer by finding alternative outlets for what are essentially, tender young beef trimmings.
Our Venison is sourced from the Highlands of Scotland, and again, these trimmings are used in the manufacture of burgers and sausages for human consumption, and so are of the very best quality. The Venison is not farmed, it is wild and roams the hills eating a varied organic diet. Our suppliers are members of SQWV, part of the Quality Meat Scotland scheme, and this stands for 'Scottish Quality Wild Venison'. It is the industry's own safeguard that the meat that reaches the consumer has been procured and handled to the highest standards every step of the way - from 'hill to plate'. This also applies to the meat we are selling for your pets!
